    CNS Executive Committee commits $1 million investment in CNS Foundation for sustainable grant-matching program.

    2019

    Pledge made by the American Association of South Asian Neurosurgeons (AASAN) to establish an international observership honoring immediate past CNS President Ashwini D. Sharan.

    2019

    Pledge made by the Section on Disorders of the Spine and Peripheral Nerves (Spine Section), this three-year commitment and project will support preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative guidelines for neurosurgeons in the Spine and Peripheral Nerves sub-specialty. Beginning January 2019, this three-year project is scheduled for completion in May, 2022.

    2018-2019

    Winner of NINDS/CNSF Getch Scholar Award, Assistant Professor of Neurological Surgery Babacar Cisse, M.D. Ph.D., is announced. Dr. Cisse is the principal investigator of a research laboratory that studies the interactions between the immune system and brain tumors. He is working towards identifying therapeutic targets within the tumor.

    Award from TransAtlantic Education Foundation made possible Dr. Alexis Morell M.D., from Argentina, observership under mentorship of Dr. Ricardo Komotar of The University of Miami.

    October 2018

    Brian Dlouhy, M.D., presented his work on Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy at the 2018 CNS Annual Meeting.

    2017

    A donation from the Tumor Section funds the development and implementation of the free Guidelines App. Available for both Androids and Apple phones, the Guidelines App has been downloaded more than 6,600 times and is accessed by neurosurgeons around the world.

    2016-2017

    Brian Dlouhy, M.D., of the University of Iowa, awarded the inaugural NINDS/CNSF Getch K12 Scholar Award.

    2015

    CNS, through a donation to the Foundation for the National Institutes of Health (FNIH), announced the NINDS/CNSF Getch K12 Scholar Award. The $200,000 two-year research grant, awarded by the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS), will support the research of a promising surgeon/scientist.
