The CNS Foundation is pleased to announce the Future Women Leaders in Neurosurgery Scholarship, established by a generous gift from an anonymous donor. Started in 2021, The CNS Foundation will annually award multiple scholarships to female neurosurgeons early in their medical career so they may attend enriching leadership opportunities of their choice. International applicants accepted.
Purpose: To support the development of female neurosurgeons early in their career so they may attend enriching leadership opportunities of their choice.
Individual Awards: $500-$2,000 to support pursuance of an educational leadership development opportunity. Individual awards bestowed by the committee may be more or less the total requested by the applicant. Award funds will be available for educational expenses only, including room and board during the event.
Number of Annual Awards: Annually determined by the CNS Foundation Awards and Finance Committees.
Examples of leadership opportunities (to be defined by the applicant):
- Individual coaching
- Leadership development course
- Healthcare management certification
- GME development
- Support of MPH/MBA or similar degree
Criteria: Applicants should be within ten (10) years of residency completion. Award recipients will be chosen based on strategic application of the proposed activity relative to the applicant’s current role and future leadership goal. International applicants accepted.
Restrictions: Award is for specific leadership event described in application. If for any reason the leadership event will no longer take place or the awardee is unable to participate, all award funds shall be returned to the CNS Foundation. The applicant may then reapply the following award cycle.
Application Window: Tuesday, March 1, 2022 - Saturday, April 30th, 2022
Method of Application: During the application period, the application will be available at the bottom of this page. At that time, please complete the online application and upload the required electronic PDF or Word documents. No printed applications received via mail or email will be accepted. Announcement of Winners: Targeting week of Monday, June 28th, 2022
Celebration of Awardees: Recipients are requested to prioritize attending the CNS Annual Meeting during which recipients will be honored. The 2022 CNS Annual Meeting will be hosted in San Francisco, CA, October 8-12, 2022. (Funds to attend the CNS Annual Meeting may be available, but is not part of this award.)
