The International Endovascular Observership, awarded by the CNS Foundation in collaboration with Harvard University / Beth Israel Deaconess, immerses the awardee in neuroendovascular procedures 7 days a week. The awardee is invited to participate in discussions of decision making as well as carrying out neuroendovascular procedures. Acute stroke and hemorrhage cases would also be included in the observership. In addition, once a week didactic sessions would be planned with our senior fellow and staff to review the basics of different areas of neuroendovascular practice including subarachnoid hemorrhage and aneurysmal disease, vascular malformations (cranial and spinal) atherosclerotic disease (intracranial and extracranial for carotid and vertebral disease), idiopathic intracranial hypertension and venous stenting, extracranial embolization for tumors, intracranial embolization for tumors, middle meningeal artery embolization for chronic subdural hematoma. The awardee will also be invited to institutional academic discussions in these various fields of study as well as weekly research meetings where clinical research fellows present and update the program on the status of a variety of research project with clinical staff.

The International Endovascular Observership, awarded by the CNS Foundation in collaboration with the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Utah, is a quaternary referral center in the Mountain West of the United State where a neuroendovacular team of four neurosurgeons provides a broad exposure to all aspects of neuroendovascular surgery procedures for adults and pediatrics, including the treatment of aneurysms, brain arteriovenous malformations, arteriovenous fistulas of the brain, tumors of the central nervous system, strokes, occlusive vascular diseases, revascularization, traumatic injury, maxillofacial vascular malformations spinal compression fractures and tumors. The University of Utah Stroke Center is the only Academic Comprehensive Stroke Center in the state of Utah and provides care to patients from across the Mountain West.

Details

The International Spine Observership, awarded by the CNS Foundation in collaboration with Duke University, is an immersive 3- to 6-month experience where the awardee will spend time with the renowned surgical faculty (neurosurgery and orthopedics) of Duke Spine.  The observership is tailored to the awardee's interests, and there is the opportunity to spend dedicated time--both in the clinic and the operating room--with spine surgeons who specialize in minimally invasive surgery, deformity surgery, spinal oncology, etc.  There is also ample opportunity to participate in virtual and in person educational conferences.
